Homer netters topple Kenai Central

Host Homer notched a 25-14, 25-16 and 26-24 victory over Kenai Central on Tuesday in Northern Lights Conference volleyball action.

Kenai falls to 0-9 in the conference with the loss, but coach John Kennedy said his squad can build on what happened in the last game.

The coach said the Kards have been working a lot on defense. Once they made a few adjustments Tuesday, they stayed right with the Mariners in the third game.

“We’re getting right to where we need to be,” Kennedy said.

Lauren Schams had eight digs and eight service points for Kenai, while Ericka Reynolds had eight digs and eight service points. Also for Kenai, Briana King had two kills and three blocks, Addison Cheek had two kills and a block, Erica Tofte had four kills, and Cassie Ross had 28 digs.

Kenai will honor its seniors when it hosts Soldotna at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
