Skyview, SoHi move to 3rd-place semis; Nikiski loses

The Skyview and Soldotna volleyball teams picked up victories on Friday in consolation play at the Northern Lights Conference tourney at Colony.

SoHi swept Kenai 3-0 and will play in the third-place semis at 11 a.m. Saturday. Skyview topped Homer 3-1 and will play in the third-place semis at 9 a.m. The Stars and the Panthers need to win two matches Saturday to take third place and earn a berth to state. The season for Homer and Kenai is over.

At the Southcentral Conference tourney at Anchorage Christian Schools, Seward defeated Nikiski 3-0 to earn a state berth. Seward plays Grace Christian for the conference title at 4 p.m. Saturday. Nikiski plays ACS at 11 a.m. Saturday in a third-place semifinal. The Bulldogs do not earn a state berth with a third-place finish.
