The Soldotna hockey team defeated host Homer 3-0 Saturday to win the End of the Road Tournament, which also included Delta and Bartlett.
SoHi finished 3-0 in the round-robin event. Bartlett placed second at 2-1, while Homer took third at 1-2. Delta finished 0-3.
Nick Wrobel, Dagen Walton and Jonas Perletti scored for the Stars (6-1-1) in the win over the Mariners, who were outshot 19-8.
SoHi coach Aaron Swanson said his team started slow, but picked up the pace over the final 30 minutes.
“We played a horrible first period,” Swanson said. “But they had an attitude adjustment during that first intermission and came out and kind of put the screws to them.”
Cody Harvey made eight saves for SoHi, which defeated Delta 9-2 on Friday. Swanson said a slew of players contributed in that win, including Jarrett Urban, Max Hegge, Dalton Pearson and Shayne Miller.
Homer defeated Delta 4-2 on Thursday before losing to Bartlett 3-1 on Friday.
Against the Stars, however, the Mariners were on defense most of the game.
“We didn’t generate any offense,” coach Buck Laukitis said. “There weren’t nearly enough shots on goal. We know what we have to work on.”
Nikit Matveev tallied Homer’s lone goal in the loss to Bartlett, which broke a 1-all tie with a pair of Zach Perry goals in the third period.
The Mariners host the Stars on Wednesday.
