Hakkinen finishes 45th in World Cup sprint

HOCHFILZEN, Austria — Biathlon World Cup champion Tarjei Boe of Norway won a 10-kilometer sprint Thursday for his first individual victory of the season and sixth in his career.
Boe had to complete a penalty lap before finishing in 23 minutes, 57.2 seconds in difficult conditions because of heavy snowfall.
Martin Fourcade of France missed two targets and came 4.0 seconds back in second, and Timofey Lapshin of Russia shot flawlessly to take third.
Kasilof biathlete Jay Hakkinen shot perfectly on the range, despite the snowy conditions. Hakkinen finished 45th with a time of 25:33.3, which was 1:36 behind the winner.
