SoHi cagers sweep Skyview

The host Soldotna girls and boys basketball teams swept Skyview on Tuesday in Northern Lights Conference action. The girls won 75-6, while the boys took a 57-34 victory.

 

In the girls game, 11 different Stars dented the scoring column. Kaillee Skjold had 19 points for the Stars, while Julie Litchfield added 16.

In the boys game, the Stars pulled away from the Panthers late in the third quarter.

DJ Diaz, who led the Panthers with 15 points, had a rebound layup at the end of the first quarter to give Skyview an 11-10 lead. The teams were tied at 19 at the half.

Tanner Fowler, who had 11 for the Stars, sparked his squad late in the third quarter with two straight 3-pointers for a 32-28 lead. The Stars led 33-28 at the end of the third.

Evan Withrow did not have a field goal in the first three quarters for the Stars, but he came alive in the fourth to put the Panthers away. Withrow had six of the points as the Stars started the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 43-30 lead.

Withrow finished with 13 points, while Cory Carver had 12 points.
