Nome sweeps Homer; Nikolaevsk splits with Lumen Christi

The Nome girls and boys basketball teams swept Homer on Friday at the Nome Subway Showdown.

 

The Homer girls fell to Nome 62-29. Devynn Johnson had 19 points for Nome, while Hailey Oliver had 11 for Homer.

The Nome boys notched a 59-54 victory. Tyler Eide had 25 points for Nome, while Nathan Blanford added 15. For Homer, Quinn Daugharty had 15, while Robin Glosser notched 11.

Nikolaevsk girls 39, Lumen Christi 33

The Warriors notched a Peninsula Conference victory over the visiting Archangels on Friday. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday.

The Warriors led 24-11 at halftime before Lumen Christi tried a comeback. Kayla Stafford paced Nikolaevsk with 11 points, while Maggie McConnell had 15 points for the Archangels.

Lumen Christi boys 68, Nikolaevsk 47

The defending Peninsula Conference champions went on the road to top the Warriors on Friday.

The Archangels led 30-21 at halftime. Eric Reimers had 18 points for Lumen Christi, while Patrick Moran had 17, Hugh Sturgulewski had 13 and Michael Sholl added 12.

For Nikolaevsk, Eric Mametieff had 15, Andre Tipikin had 12 and Anthony Yakunin added 11.
