Thursday hoops roundup: Dimond boys defeat Kenai

The Kenai Central boys basketball team were tied at halftime against Dimond, but lost the handle in the third quarter to lose with a final score of 43-61.
Senior AJ Hull led Kenai with 11 points, while senior Bo Reilly had nine total.
Dimond’s top scorer was Ryden Hines with 22 points on the night.
Kenai kept the game close in the first half, leading after the first quarter by five points, and tied at halftime with 26 each.
However, Dimond put on a show in the third quarter, outscoring the Kardinals 21-9, and doing further damage in the fourth, with a 14-8 point difference.
CIA girls 48, Wolverines 24
The Eagles notched a Peninsula Conference victory on Thursday at Cook Inlet Academy.
Kelsie Leaf scored 17 points for the Eagles, including 15 in the first half as CIA grabbed a 27-8 lead. Jessica Rogers and Esther Ehlers each had eight for the Wolverines.
Seward girls 45, Bartlett 44
The Seahawks picked up a victory in the first round of the 2012 Lady T-Bird Classic on Thursday.
Meg Berry had a monster game for the Seahawks, scoring 28 points and hitting five 3-pointers. For Bartlett, Olivia Calloway had 13 points.
Seward moves on to play North Pole at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Patriots topped Thunder Mountain 49-42.
Soldotna girls 56, Ketchikan 46
Kaillee Skjold led Soldotna to the win over Ketchikan Thursday night at the Lady T-Bird Classic in Anchorage. Skjold contributed 21 points.
Ketchikan’s top scorer was Melissa Elliott with 11 points. Hannah Carson had 10 points.
The Kings started out strong, leading the Stars by 3 points at halftime, but wasn’t able to hold them off, as they were outscored 19-8 in the fourth quarter.
Soldotna continues on to face East tonight at 7:15 p.m. Ketchikan goes up against Grace Christian at 3:45 pm today.
Fort Yukon girls 45, Nikolaevsk 38
The Eagles notched a victory over the Warriors on Thursday in the opening round of the Nikolaevsk Warrior Rumble.
Kandace Carroll led the Eagles with 25 points, while Jessica Peter had 10.
The Warriors buried seven 3-pointers, but it was not enough. Serafima Kalugin had 12 points and four treys, while Kilina Klaich had 11 points and three treys.
In other girls action at the tournament, Nenana defeated Tri-Valley 38-28.
The Nikolaevsk girls play Nenana today at 5:30 pm and Nikolaevsk boys go up against Nenana at 7:30 pm.
Nikolaevsk boys 61, Fort Yukon 32
The Warriors cruised to a victory over the Eagles on Thursday in the Nikolaevsk Warrior Rumble.
Nikolaevsk led 28-22 at halftime, but outscored Fort Yukon 27-4 in the third quarter.
Blake Klaich had 21 points for the Warriors, while Eric Mametieff had 20 points. Andre Tipikin added 13 points for Nikolaevsk. For Fort Yukon, Franklin Carroll had 12 points.
In other boys action at the tournament, Tri-Valley topped Nenana 67-66.
