Soldotna, Seward cagers to battle for 3rd

The Soldotna Stars girls basketball team lost 58-51 in semifinal action Friday in Anchorage to the East Thunder Birds at the Lady T-Bird Classic.
Kaillee Skjold had 20 points for Soldotna, while Taria Page was East’s top scorer with 26 points.
Soldotna was leading 22-20 at halftime, but East proved too strong, and the Stars will be heading to the 3rd place matchup against Seward Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Seward Seahawks girls conceded an overtime game to the North Pole Patriots Friday at the Lady T-Bird Classic, with a final score of 47-45.
Down three points at halftime, Seward outscored North Pole 15-9 in the third quarter, but the Patriots closed the gap to tie it at 40 at the end of regulation.
Meg Berry led Seward with 21 total points, while the Patriots top scorer was Raegan Smothers with 17.
Seward goes on to play Soldotna in the 3rd place game Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
