Seward cagers sweep Nikiski

The Seward girls basketball team notched a 53-39 Southcentral Conference victory on Tuesday over Nikiski.

Seward took a 14-10 lead after the first quarter and gradually expanded that advantage over the course of the game. Meg Berry had 20 points to pace the Seahawks, while Savannah Griffel pumped in 14 points for the Bulldogs.

A torrid second quarter was more than enough for the host Seahawks to pick up a Southcentral Conference victory on Tuesday over the Bulldogs.

Nikiski led 9-6 after the first quarter, but Seward outscored Nikiski 34-6 in the second quarter to put the game away. Jeff Buchanan nailed three 3-pointers and had 11 of his 17 points in the second quarter. Matthew Moore had nine of his 16 in the second quarter, while Jalen Terry had seven of his 17.

Colton Anderson pumped in 18 points for the Bulldogs.
