5 area wrestlers gain Northern Lights finals

Five wrestlers from the Kenai Peninsula will wrestle in the finals Saturday at the Northern Lights Conference tournament in Kodiak.

Soldotna had three wrestlers make the finals. Auston Tennis will wrestle Wasilla's Tyler Adams at 145, Kade Foust will take on Colony's Simon Root at 160 and Troy Strieff will face Kodiak's Charlie Johnson at 182.

In the finals for Kenai are Hope Steffensen, wrestling Kodiak's Andrew Caballa at 106, and Ellery Steffensen, wrestling Kodiak's Cameron White at 132.

Kodiak leads the tournament after the first day with 182 points, while Wasilla is second at 152.5, Colony is third at 102, Palmer is fourth at 93, Soldotna is fifth at 79 and Kenai is sixth at 44.
