Colony girls top SkyHi

On Friday, it took Skyview more than nine minutes to score during a lopsided loss to Palmer. On Saturday, the Panthers scored on their first possession and held an early 4-3.  But then it was all Colony. The Knights used a 32-2 run to bury the Panthers 69-12 at Colony High School on Saturday afternoon.
Jerica Nelson scored 15 of her 20 points during that first-half run. Mary Klapperich added a game-high 23 for Colony. Izzy Tweed chipped in nine.
Stefany Malatesta led the Panthers with eight points.
Colony boys 79, Skyview 33
Nate Umbarger scored eight of his dozen points in the first quarter at the host Knights topped the Panthers in Northern Lights Conference action.
Jared Turner added a game-high 13. Ten players scored at least three points for Colony.
Albert White and Jordan Jones scored a team-high eight each of the Panthers.
CIA boys 61, Nanwalek 25
The Eagles notched a Peninsula Conference victory Saturday in Seldovia.
Every person on the roster scored for CIA in the game, with Zac Taplin leading the way with 13 points.
Jace Romanoff had 10 points for Nanwalek, while Tim Ukatish had seven. John Romanoff played a strong game before fouling out in the third quarter.
Wasilla girls 52, Kenai 29
The Kenai girls lost to the Warriors in Wasilla in Northern Lights Conference action.
Alyssa Hutchins had a big game to lead Wasilla, scoring 21 points. Morgan Wensley and Carolyn Kiefer both had nine points to lead Kenai’s effort.
Kenai’s biggest quarter was the second, in which they scored 11 points to trail Wasilla 24-15, but had nothing else, as they were outscored 28-14 in the second half.

Wasilla boys 59, Kenai 45
The host Warriors outscored the Kardinals 20-6 in the first quarter to notch a Northern Lights Conference victory.
Dane Kuiper had 20 points for the Warriors, while Connor Devine also added 20. Braydon Kuiper added 10 points. For Kenai, Colton Hayes had 17 points, while Shane Spalding added 11 points.
ACS girls 52, Nikiski 21
The Lions cruised to a 52-21 Southcentral Conference victory over the Bulldogs.
Sarah Geagel had 13 points for the Lions, while Dallas Dickerson had 12 points. For Nikiski, Savannah Griffel and Rachel Thompson each had four points.
ACS boys 82, Nikiski 40
The host Lions rolled to a Southcentral Conference victory over the Bulldogs.
Gus Simmers had 28 points to lead ACS, while Calvin Hoffman had 23 and Nate Simmers had 19. For Nikiski, Colton Anderson had 11 points, while Lucas Herrin had 10 points.
Ninilchik girls 35,
Lumen Christi 33, OT
The visiting Wolverines went to overtime to record a Peninsula Conference victory over Lumen Christi.
Ninilchik took an 11-2 lead after one quarter, but the Archangels fought back to tie by outscoring Ninilchik 15-4 in the foruth quarter. Ninilchik won the extra period 6-4.

Palmer boys 68, Homer 60
The host Moose notched a Northern Lights Conference victory over the Mariners.
