Tuesday hoops: Kenai girls, Ninilchik girls, boys all lose

The Kenai Kardinals girls lost a low-scoring match to the North Pole Patriots on Wednesday at the Lady Lynx Prep Shootout at Dimond, with a score of 31-24. 

 

Junior Sydney Taylor led Kenai’s effort with 10 points before fouling out. Senior Bailey Beeson contributed five points. 

Josie Broderick of North Pole led the Patriots with 15 total points.

After a halftime score of 20-17, the two teams scored a combined total of five points in the fourth quarter.

With the loss, the Kardinals are thrown into the Maroon Tournament. They will play Nome, which lost 74-39 to Dimond, today at 6:15 p.m.

Hooper Bay girls 28, Ninilchik 27

The Wolverines dropped a close game in the opening round of the Lena B. Ferguson Memorial Tournament in Chevak on Wednesday.

Ninilchik continues play in the consolation bracket today with an 11 a.m. tilt.

Aniak boys 60, Ninilchik 58

The Wolverines lost at the buzzer on the opening day of play Wednesday at the Lena B. Ferguson Memorial Tournament in Chevak. Aniak is the defending Class 1A state champion.
