The Cook Inlet Academy boys grabbed a win Thursday at the Ninilchik Tournament with a 72-62 decision over Ninilchik.
David Reischach and Koebryn Mlynarik led CIA with 30 points and 24 points, respectively. Mlynarik dropped seven 3-point shots.
The top scorers from Ninilchik were Billy Reilly with 29 points and Jack Wheeler with 18 points.
The CIA girls ousted Ninilchik 52-25 Thursday at the Ninilchik Tournament.
CIA had some help from Kelsie Leaf, who had 20 points, and Megan Bauder, who added 14.
Esther Ehlers scored eight points to lead Ninilchik, while teammate Lilly Kelson had 6 points.
Valdez Elks Basketball Tournament
The Seward boys were the only squad from the Kenai Peninsula to pick up a victory Thursday at the 35th annual Valdez Elks Basketball Tournament. The Seward girls, Nikiski girls and Nikiski boys all lost.
The Seward boys edged Hutchison 48-46. Seward led 21-8 after the first quarter, but was outscored 18-5 in the second quarter. The Seahawks led 35-26 heading into the final quarter.
Jalen Terry had 20 points to lead the Seahawks, while Matthew Moore added 13. Seward plays in the semifinals at 3:45 p.m. today.
The Seward girls dropped a 51-50 decision to Barrow. Seward will play in the fourth-place semifinals at 10:30 a.m. today.
In the close game, Seward was 12 of 21 from the line, while Barrow was 3 of 6. Meg Berry paced the Seahawks with 25 points.
The Nikiski girl lost 51-25 to Kotzebue. The Bulldogs will play at 2 p.m. today in the fourth-place semifinals.
Nikiski trailed 13-8 after the first quarter, but the Huskies outscored the Bulldogs 19-2 in the second frame. Savannah Griffel paced Nikiski with 10 points.
The Nikisi boys dropped a 63-54 decision to Bethel. The Bulldogs led 9-4 after the first quarter, but Bethel led 23-16 at halftime. Bethel held a 37-32 lead after three quarters.
Colton Anderson and Lucas Herrin each had 22 points for the Bulldogs. Nikiski plays at 12:15 p.m. today in the fourth-place semifinals

Nikolaevsk girls, boys split with Lumen Christi

The Nikolaevsk girls defeated Lumen Christi 41-31 on Tuesday in Peninsula Conference action in Anchorage. The Warriors boys dropped a 65-57 decision to the Archangels.
