Saturday hoops roundup: SoHi girls topple Colony

The Soldotna girls took over in the second half after a halftime tie to win 50-41 over Colony on Saturday in Northern Lights Conference play at Soldotna.

With a halftime score of 19 each, the Stars managed to outscore the Knights 31-22 in the second half.

Julie Litchfield had 20 points to lead Soldotna. Kelci Benson and Kaillee Skjold had 11 apiece as well.

Jerica Nelson had 16 points to lead Colony.

Colony boys 56, Soldotna 46

The Stars lost the handle on a NLC game against Colony on Saturday at Soldotna.

Leading 32-23 at halftime, Soldotna was outscored by the Knights 33-14 in the second half.

Evan Withrow led Soldotna with 21 points, while Colony was led by both Tim Smith and Hunter Eisenhower, who had 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Wasilla girls 73, Skyview 11

The visiting Warriors cruised past the Panthers on Saturday in Northern Lights Conference action.

Alyssa Hutchins had 24 points for Wasilla, while Kyle Dinkle had 17.

Wasilla boys 79, Skyview 20

The visiting Warriors held the Panthers to two points in the second half in picking up a Northern Lights Conference win on Saturday.

Connor Devine poured in 34 points for Wasilla, while Brayden Kuiper had 15 and Dane Kuiper added 10.

DJ Diaz paced the Panthers with seven points.

ACS girls 64, CIA 37

The host Lions notched a nonconference victory over the Eagles on Saturday.

Anchorage Christian Schools outscored Cook Inlet Academy 15-1 in the second period to take a 32-13 lead into halftime.

Sarah Geagel had 16 points for ACS, while Nicole Moffis pumped in 23 points for CIA.

Kodiak girls 49, Homer 15

The visiting Bears held Homer to four points in the first half en route to a Northern Lights Conference victory Saturday.

Ila Hughes had 10 points to lead Kodiak.

Kodiak boys 45, Homer 42

The visiting Bears came back from a 31-28 deficit entering the fourth quarter to post a Northern Lights Conference win Saturday.

Austin Frick had 15 points to lead Kodiak, knocking home five 3-pointers. Dyllan Day had four 3-pointers en route to 20 points for the Mariners.

Seward boys 51,
Grace Christian 47

The Seward boys rallied to defeat Grace Saturday in Southcentral Conference play in Anchorage.

Grace led 28-24 at the half, but Seward outscored the Grizzlies 15-5 in the third quarter to take the lead and the victory.

Jalen Terry paced the Seahawks with 23 points, while Grace was led by Hans Karlberg with 14.

Jeff Buchanan scored 16 points, including nine in the crucial third quarter.

Seward girls 40, Grace 35

Seward held off Grace 40-35 Saturday in Anchorage.

Meg Berry had 13 points to lead Seward’s winning effort, while Heidi Eckmann paced the Grizzlies with 12.

Nikiski boys 55, Cordova 52

The Bulldogs came away with the victory against Cordova in Southcentral Conference play in Cordova.

Lucas Herrin led Nikiski’s effort with 20 points, and Dylan Griffith had 11.

Keith Nolan had 22 points to lead Cordova’s effort.

Cordova girls 38, Nikiski 28

The Cordova girls took over in the second half to defeat Nikiski in Southcentral play in Cordova.

Nikiski led at halftime with a score of 15-12, but was outscored by Cordova 26-13 in the second half.

Savannah Griffel led Nikiski’s effort with 15 points, all of which were 3-pointers. 

Misa Webber led Cordova with 16 points.
