SoHi graduate Blackburn earns honor

SoHi graduate Paige Blackburn, a senior thrower at Air Force, was named the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
The honor came for Blackburn’s performance at the Robert Shine Invitational. At the meet, Blackburn became the second Air Force thrower to best the 50-foot mark in the shot put, throwing 51 feet, 2 3-4 inches, to improve her personal best by over 1 foot and finish second at the event, including first among college athletes. The throw is second in the Mountain West and 36th in the nation.
Blackburn also established a new personal record in the weight throw, tossing 59—7 3-4. That is a top-10 toss in the conference.
Blackburn is competing in the 2012 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships. The event started Thursday and will end Saturday.
