Wasilla girls, boys take down SkyHi

The Wasilla boys basketball team took down Skyview 75-26 on Thursday in the opening round of the Northern Lights Conference tourney at Wasilla.
The Warriors, the top seed from the Southern Division, received 17 points from Eric Roberts, 14 from Dane Kuiper and 12 from Braydon Kuiper.
DJ Collier had eight points to lead Skyview.
Wasilla plays Kodiak in the semifinals at 8:15 p.m. today. Skyview faces Homer in the fourth-place bracket at 1:15 p.m.
Wasilla girls 72, Skyview 13
The Warriors, the top seed from the Northern Division, cruised past the Panthers, the No. 4 seed from the south.
Alyssa Hutchins had 19 points for Wasilla, while Ricki Koso had 14 and Pherrauri Brumbaugh had 10.
For Skyview, Chelsey Ahlers and Bri Pearson each had four points.
Wasilla faces Colony in the semifinals today at 6:30 p.m., while Skyview faces Kenai in the fourth-place bracket.
Kodiak girls 53, Homer 16
The Kodiak girls built up an early lead and never let up en route to a first-round Northern Lights Conference win against the Mariners Thursday in Wasilla.
Kodiak led 33-5 at halftime, as points were evenly distributed across players, with Megan Pyles and Lia Hughes each topping the team with 10 points.
Elissa Tutt led Homer with four points.
Kodiak boys 71, Homer 48
Homer let a halftime lead of 31-25 slip away as the Mariners were smothered in the second half to lose to Kodiak at the Northern Lights Conference tournament Thursday in Wasilla.
Homer was outscored 22-10 in the third quarter, and 24-7 in the fourth, as Jesse Sweargin led Kodiak with 22 points.
Homer’s top scorer was Sam Reinert with 16 points.
Homer will play Skyview Friday at 1:15 p.m., while Kodiak goes on against Wasilla at 8:15 p.m.
