Area cagers participate in all-star games

Area basketball players participated in the Alaska Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Games on Thursday in Soldotna and Saturday at Grace Christian in Anchorage.

 

In the girls game at Soldotna, the Blue squad notched a 73-70 victory over the Gold squad. Kenai Central’s Morgan Wensley had five points for the Blue squad, while Seward’s Meg Berry had two points for the Gold squad. Kenai Central’s Bailey Beeson also was named to the game, but did not participate.

Saturday at Grace, the Gold girls won 87-76. Berry was held scoreless in this game, while Wensley pumped in 11 points.

In the boys game at Soldotna, the Blue team won 86-64 over the Gold team. Evan Withrow had 16 points to lead all scorers on the Blue team. He made three 3-pointers. Also for the Blue team, Nikiski’s Colton Anderson had three points.

For the Gold team, Kenai Central’s Bo Reilly was held scoreless but led the team with 12 rebounds.

Saturday at Grace, Gold beat Blue 92-90. Anderson had nine points for the Blue team. Withrow and Reilly did not play in that game.

Kenai Central’s AJ Hull also was named to the all-star teams, but did not participate.
