Homer softball beats Kenai

The Homer Mariners notched an 11-3 win over the Kenai Kardinals Wednesday at Kenai.
“It certainly gives us confidence heading into the weekend against the Anchorage teams,” Homer coach Bill Bell said.
Homer matches up against the South Anchorage Wolverines on Friday, then plays the Service Cougars Saturday.
With the score 6-3 heading into the sixth inning, Homer was able to find five hits off Kenai pitcher Havan Shaganoff, who recorded two strikeouts.
Homer’s Monica Davis put up three runs, Brianna Edens had two singles and three runs batted in and Miranda Beach notched a triple.
Hannah Larue pitched the full game for Homer and recorded one hit and six strikeouts.
“Homer is a good hitting team,” Kenai coach Mark King said. “Out of 11 runs, they earned eight of them.”
Kenai’s top hitters included Carly Norvelle with two runs on three hits.
Kenai will play Service Friday at 5 p.m.
