SoHi baseball edges Wasilla

Soldotna edged Wasilla in a close 7-6 match Thursday at Soldotna in Northern Lights Conference action.
The Stars featured multiple pitchers on the mound, as Max Hegge pitched the first two innings, giving up two earned runs, three hits, while earning three strikeouts.
Hegge was also the Stars’ top hitter, with four hits and two runs, plus an RBI.
Tyler Marcuson produced a .750 batting average, and Jake Darrow was .500, earning one hit.
Darrow stepped up to pitch three innings as well, giving up four runs, three of them earned, and two strikeouts.
The last two innings were pitched by Marcuson, and he gave up no runs, two hits and struck out four guys.
“These guys were extemely patient, and it sure is gratifying to get this win,” Soldotna assistant coach Mike Griffin said. “I would say our whole team’s batting average was over .300.”
SoHi is now 2-1. The Stars host Kodiak in a Saturday doubleheader at 2 and 5 p.m.
