Ice Dogs fall in national semifinals

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, who swept the Kenai River Brown Bears in the first round of the North American Hockey League playoffs this year, will not repeat as Robertson Cup champions.

The Ice Dogs lost 4-3 in overtime in the Robertston Cup semifinals Monday in Frisco, Texas.

Drew Allen of Texas scored 16 minutes, 39 seconds, into the first overtime period to lift Texas to the victory.

The Ice Dogs had a 3-2 lead in the third period, but Justin Greenberg scored with 5:01 left in the game for the tie.

Texas had a 35-26 advantage on shots in the game.
