Homer, Juneau softball teams pick up wins

The Juneau-Douglas softball team notched a 11-3 nonconference victory over Soldotna on Thursday in Soldotna. The game went five innings due to a time limit.

The Stars are now 10-5 overall.

Jordan Sedy got the start for Soldotna at gave up 10 runs in four innings. Four of those runs were unearned. Sedy also had a strikeout.

“Jordan Sedy hadn’t pitched much at the varsity level this year,” Soldotna coach Dave Cleveland said. “She did just fine.”

Nikki Hegge pitched the fifth inning and gave up an unearned run.

Juneau took control of the game in the third inning with five runs that resulted in a 7-2 lead.

Serena Prior had an inside-the-park home run for Soldotna. Emily Brown was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.

Homer 11, Kenai 3

The host Mariners notched an 11-3 victory over the Kardinals on Thursday in Northern Lights Conference play.

Homer moved to 5-1 in the league and 10-4 overall.
