The Homer softball team defeated host Kodiak 17-9 on Friday in Northern Lights Conference play.
The game went just three innings due to the time limit as the Mariners finished up their regular season at 14-5 overall and 9-1 in the league. Homer had wrapped up a state berth Thursday.
The game was played in the rain and a puddled field.
Hannah LaRue led Homer with two three-run home runs — one in the first and the other in the second. LaRue also was the winning pitcher, with three strikeouts and five walks.
Brooke Devaney and Kayla Hutt each had three RBIs for Homer, while LaRue and Hutt had two hits. Devaney had a triple, while Hutt had a double.
Kodiak 12, Skyview 5
This Northern Lights Conference game was called after three innings due to rain.
Kodiak led 9-4 after the first inning.
Skyview finished 1-9 in the conference, while Kodiak finished at 5-5.
Soldotna sweeps Houston
The Stars picked up two Northern Lights Conference victories Friday at Houston to wrap up a state berth.
Soldotna finished 8-2 in the league to take the NLC's No. 2 berth to state. Homer will be the conference's top seed.
