Oilers pitch 13-0 no-hitter against All-Stars

Team racks up 20 hits

The Peninsula Oilers shut out the Adult All-Stars 13-0 on Tuesday night in non-conference play at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
Five Oilers pitchers combined to nearly post a perfect game, settling for a no-hitter. Chris Kono pitched five innings and recorded two strikeouts. Michael Coates, Brandon Kiser and Cole Thompson pitched two strikeouts in one inning each.
Jimmie Koch led the slugfest for the Oilers, going 3 for 5 with five RBI’s and three runs, while teammate Jeff Yamaguchi hit all five times at bat, and recorded two RBI’s.
Alex Staehely and Riley Heinzer both went 3 for 5.
Together, the team recorded 20 hits, and only one error.
The Oilers put up most of the runs early, scoring three runs in the first inning, four in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and ending with one run in the eighth.
The Oilers open up defense of their Alaska Baseball League crown when they host the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
