Oilers, Pilots enter pivotal series tied for ABL lead

The Peninsula Oilers and the Anchorage Glacier Pilots are headed into a four-game series at Coral Seymour Memorial Park tied for first place in the Alaska Baseball League with identical 16-10 records.

The Oilers were off Friday and Saturday. The Pilots beat the Chinooks 4-0 on Friday, but lost to Chugiak 7-4 on Saturday to fall back into a tie with the Oilers.

The two squads have opened up some space on the rest of the league. The Anchorage Bucs are in third at 13-14, 3 1-2 games back. The Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks are in fourth at 12-14, 4 games back. The Chinooks are 11-14, 4 1-2 games back, while the Miners are 11-17, 6 games back.

The pivotal four-game series starts with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Sunday. The teams play at 7 p.m. Monday, then 5 p.m. Tuesday.

All games can be heard on 1140 AM.
