Connor Leaf (5) celebrates his game-tying penalty kick for the Under-15 Kenai Peninsula Soccer Falcons in the second half of Thursday’s game against the Cook Inlet Soccer Club Velocity during the Alaska Youth Soccer State Cup at the Kenai City Fields. The game remained tied through the end of regulation and two, five-minute overtime periods. The Velocity finally came out on top by winning the penalty-kick tiebreaker, 2-1. In other action involving local teams Thursday, the Phoenix defeated the KPSC Outlaws 6-0 in boys Under-12 play, the KPSC Crew tied Velocity Boys Blue 0-0 in boys Under-13 play, and the Eclipse topped KPSC Fusion 2-1 in girls Under-13 play. Play continues today through Monday.
