Donnie Morgan Tourney slated for weekend

The Donnie Morgan Club Championship is set for Saturday and Sunday at the Kenai Golf Course. The tournament is open to members of the Kenai Golf Association.

 

Dick and Shirley Morgan, as well as Carol Morgan, will be at the tournament.

“This is the club championship,” Kenai co-owner Gordon Griffin said. “This is for bragging rights for the entire year.”

Griffin said another big part of the tournament in honoring the late Donnie Morgan.

“Donnie did a lot for Kenai Golf Course,” Griffin said. “He took over for Dick Morgan and took Dick’s vision and brought it to fruition.

“I’ll always remember Donnie for his great smile, silver hair and white hat. I also remember him cutting the fairways and tees in the early morning and late at night. He put a lot of his life into the Kenai Golf Course, and that’s the reason the tournament is named for Donnie Morgan.”
