Homer returns to home turf to shut out Sitka

The Mariners returned to their home turf with a convincing 38-0 win over nonconference foe Sitka.
Homer, which did not have its game field available before this week due to construction of a new track, improved to 2-2 overall.
Homer coach Camron Wyatt said the ground game keyed the victory.
“We just ran it,” he said. “We didn’t try to go north, south, east and west. We just went north and south.
“Sitka was not a bad team at all. We just had a few older boys that were more schooled up.”
Mark McGregor rushed 17 times for 110 yards. He also had a touchdown and an interception. Konstantin Reutov had seven rushes for 67 yards, while Tommy Bowe had five rushes for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Also for Homer, Quinn Daugharty had two rushes for 22 yards, Sheldon Hutt had four rushes for 22 yards, Connor Seay had two rushes for 26 yards and a touchdown, and Joseph Cardoza had four rushes for 31 yards and two touchdowns.
Hutt also hit one pass to Daugharty for 17 yards.
For Sitka, Justin Pratt caught six passes for 33 yards. Quarterback Mitchell Boord was 5 for 15 for 48 yards and an interception.
Barrow 63, Seward 0
The host Whalers improved to 2-1 in the Greatland Conference and 2-1 overall with the victory. Seward dropped to 0-3 and 1-4.
