Palmer volleyball edges SoHi in hard-fought 5-setter

The Palmer volleyball team outlasted Soldotna in a five-setter Friday at Soldotna in Northern Lights Conference play.

The scores were 25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 15-25 and 15-11. The Stars dropped to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

SoHi coach Bruce King wrote in an email that it was an outstanding match between two outstanding teams. He wrote Julie Litchfield led a group of excellent performances.

Litchfield had 18 digs, 13 blocks (five stuff), 20 assists and 12 kills. Katelynn Kerkvliet had 15 kills and 17 blocks (10 stuff), while Kaillee Skjold had 11 kills and 21 blocks (15 stuff).

Also for the Stars, Kaycee Munn had 18 digs and five service aces, Natalie Kress had 32 digs, and Heidi Westerman had 16 digs, three aces and 27 assists.

SoHi hosts Colony at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
