SoHi volleyball takes 5th at Spiketacular

The Soldotna volleyball team led the Peninsula on Friday and Saturday at the West Spiketacular by winning the silver bracket.

The Stars finished second in their pool on Friday with a 6-2 record, moving them into the silver bracket. In the silver bracket, Soldotna defeated Grace Christian 25-17, 25-20, before topping Bartlett 21-25, 25-16 and 16-14. SoHi’s 12-3 record in the tournament was good for fifth place. SoHi’s Julie Litchfield was named SoHi’s outstanding player for the tourney.

Nikiski also made the silver bracket finishing second in its pool with a 4-4 record. The Bulldogs tied for third in the silver bracket, losing to Bartlett 25-20, 25-27 and 15-8.

Skyview finished fourth in its bracket with a 2-6 record, putting the Panthers into the copper bracket. There, Skyview defeated Barrow 25-21, 25-21, before losing to Chugiak in the bracket title match, 25-14, 22-25, 16-14.

Homer finished 0-8 in its bracket, then lost in its first game in the nickel bracket. The Mariners lost 23-25, 25-15 and 15-11 to Nome-Beltz.
