Kards split at End of Road Shootout

The Kenai Central hockey team opened up play at the End of the Road Shootout in Homer on Thursday by defeating Glennallen 8-3 and losing to Bartlett 9-3.

 

In the Glennallen game, Ryan Simpson paced the Kards with two goals. Kyle Olson, Dalton Dosko, Nathan Zorbas, Collin Morse, Conner Jenson and Caleb Caldwell also added tallies.

Ben Mills made 10 saves in the victory.

In the Bartlett game, Kenai fell behind 2-0 after the first period. After falling behind 3-0 in the second period, Justin Hibbert, on assists from Ryan Simpson and Morse, made it 3-1. The Bears would then go up 6-1 before Isaac Mese scored at the end of the second period. Andrew Hamilton and Nathan Zorbas assisted.

The final Kenai goal came from Jake Eubank, on an assist from Mese.

Kenai finishes tourney play by playing Houston at 11:30 a.m. today, then Hutchison at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
