State volleyball awards announced

Both the Skyview and Soldotna volleyball teams won the Academic Award at the Alaska School Activities Association state volleyball tournament, which ended Saturday.

The Panthers, who finished fourth in the 3A tournament, won the award with a GPA of 3.65. The Stars, who tied for fifth in the 4A tourney, had a GPA of 3.91.

In the 3A tourney, Skyview’s Marlee Cunningham was named to the all-tournament team. Rachel Thompson of Nikiski, which finished tied for seventh, also made the squad.

Kaillee Skjold made the 4A squad for Soldotna.
