Oilers sign 2 from Gardner-Webb

The Peninsula Oilers have signed two players from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. Andrew Barnett is a 6-foot-0, 185-pound right-handed pitcher from High Point, N.C. Matthew Fraudin is a 6-5, 210-pound left-handed pitcher from Pittsburgh.

Barnett, a junior, has bumped his fastball velocity into the low 90s. As a freshman in 2011, Barnett made 17 relief appearances and was 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in 24 innings pitched. He struck out 18. In 2011, he was 4-4 with a 4.15 ERA, starting 15 games. He struck out 69 in 86.2 innings.

Fraudin, a sophomore, also has a fastball that reaches into the 90s. As a freshman, he was 1-5 with a 3.41 ERA, starting 12 games. He struck out 47 in 71.1 innings.
