East hockey tops Kenai

The East hockey team defeated Kenai Central 12-1 on Friday at the Soldotna Sports Center in nonconference action.

East grabbed a 6-0 lead in the first period, but Kenai started the second period with a goal. Kyle Olson lit the lamp on assists from Cody Aberlovsky and Nathan Zorbas. But East was able to close out the dominant victory, piling up a 48-13 advantage on shots.

Kenai's Justin Alvey had 24 saves on 32 shots, while Ben Mills made 12 saves on 16 shots for the Kards. For East, Kris Oldham made 12 saves on 13 shots.

Sam Stinson had a hat trick for the Thunderbirds, while Brian Cresap and Justin Beverlin added two goals apiece.
