Kenai wrestling 4th at West Christmas Classic

The Wasilla wrestling team won the West Christmas Class on Saturday in Anchorage.

The Warriors had 442.5 points to top runner-up Colony, which had 342 points. West was third with 337.5, while Kenai took fourth with 278. Also from the Peninsula, Soldotna was 13th with 124.5 points.

Hope Steffensen and Dylan Carter led the Kards by taking second.

Steffensen lost in the final match at 106 to Kyle Willard of East. The score was 5-0. Carter lost in the finals at 160 to Logan Conway by a 7-3 count.

The Kards had a number of wrestlers finish in the top six — Dustin Everitt was sixth at 120, Aaron Troxell-Tom was fourth at 132, Nolan Christopher was fifth at 145, Matt Aho was sixth at 170, Tyler Brown was sixth at 182 and Zach Koziczkowski was fifth at 195.

For Soldotna, Troy Streiff brought the only individual championship back to the Peninsula. Streiff won at 182, notching a sudden victory over Wasilla’s Mark Dobbs.
