Tuesday hoops roundup

The Kenai Central boys basketball team rolled past host Nikiski 74-42 in nonconference action Tuesday.

The Kardinals led 36-21 at halftime.

Shane Spalding paced the Kardinals with 19 points, while Josh McKee pitched in 16 for the Kards.

For the Bulldogs, Luke Johnson pumped in 11 points.

Ninilchik 30

The visiting Stars held off the Wolverines in nonconference action Tuesday.

Soldotna led 21-11 entering the final eight minutes, but the Stars then had to withstand a scoring outburst. Ninilchik had 19 points in the final period is just failing to close the gap.

Lindsay Wong and Hailey Miller each had seven points for the Stars.

For the Wolverines, Kaylee Smith had 14 points, including 10 in the final period.

The Stars outscored the Wolverines 8-2 in the extra frame to collect the nonconference victory Tuesday.

Both Raphael Ross and Drew Fowler had three points in the extra frame for the Stars. Fowler had 16 in the game, while Brooks Furlong added 13.

Jack Wheeler led the way for Ninilchik with 23 points.
