Coates to return to Oilers

Cal State Northridge pitcher Michael Coates returns to the Oilers for the 2013 season. Coates was 3-1 last season for the Oilers with a 4.07 ERA. He pitched 35 innings in 12 appearances and gave up 36 hits, 16 earned runs and 14 bases on balls.

Coates struck out 27 and allowed 10 doubles, two triples and three home runs, while batters hit .281 against him. Coates is listed at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds and is from Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Coates will rejoin Logan McAnallen of the University of Michigan and Jake Alvarez of Fresno State University from last year’s team.
