The Kenai Central girls and boys basketball teams dropped Northern Lights Conference contests to visiting Palmer on Thursday.

 

The Kenai girls lost 48-31. The score was 9-9 after one quarter, but Palmer led 29-17 at half.

Taylor Blake had 26 points to pace Palmer, including 12 in the second quarter. For Kenai, Sydney Taylor had 15 points.

In the boys game, Palmer notched a 51-43 victory. Kenai led 12-7 after the first quarter, and the game was tied at 20 at the half. Palmer then took a 38-30 lead after three quarters.

Connor Looney had 27 points to lead Palmer, while Nathan Meyer had 12.For the Kards, Wyatt Fitt and Shane Spalding each notched 12 points.

Nikiski Tip-Off Tournament

The Nikiski girls and boys basketball teams both lost at the opening day of the Nikiski Tip-Off Tournament on Thursday.

In the girls game, Nikiski lost 47-28 to Dillingham. The Wolves led 16-9 after one quarter and 26-12 at halftime.

Drew Carlos paced Dillingham with 15 points, while Bryn Tennyson had 12 points.

For Nikiski, Alyssa Darch had 10 points.

In other girls action, Houston topped Eagle River 39-20.

In the boys game, Dillingham notched a 77-54 victory over Nikiski. Dillingham led 25-11 after the first period.

Kendall Alvarado had 21 points for the Wolves, while Cade Schlagel had 17, Dylan Wassily had 15 and Kenneth Savo had 12.

For Nikiski, Seth Carstens pumped in 20 points, while Luke Johnson had 12 points.

In the other boys game, it was Houston 60, Kotzebue 38.
