SoHi boys fall to Bartlett in overtime

The Bartlett basketball team avenged a loss to Soldotna earlier in the year with a 51-50 overtime triumph over the Stars on Thursday at the Alaska Prep Shootout at Dimond High School in Anchorage.

 

The Stars trailed 18-13 at halftime, but a strong second half tied the game at 45 heading into overtime.

The Stars were outrebounded 45-27 in the game, but were able to stay in it by hitting five 3-pointers to Bartlett’s none.

Cory Carver pumped in a game-high 22 points for the Stars, while Colton Young added 10 points.

For Bartlett, Iziah Sherman-Newsome had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while BJ McKoy added 12 points.

Soldotna meets up with Grace Christian on Friday at 2:45 p.m.

Ninilchik boys 68, Kodiak ESS 38

The Wolverines overwhelmed Kodiak ESS on Thursday at home enroute the the easy win.

Jack Wheeler dominated with 26 points to lead Ninilchik. Wheeler had 20 points by halftime, when Ninilchik had a 43-16 lead.

For Kodiak ESS, it was Dallas Panamarioff leading the effort with 11 points. Kodiak outscored Ninilchik 14-9 in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was simply too much to overcome.

Nikolaevsk girls 65, Yakutat 26

The Nikolaevsk girls took a convincing non-conference win over Yakutat on Thursday in Point Hope.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 16-0 lead after one quarter, and held a 28-6 lead at the half.

Nianiella Dorvall and Sophia Kalugin led Nikolaevsk with 22 points each.

Also, the Nikolaevsk boys won 54-50 over Point Hope.
