SoHi hockey blasts Chugiak

The Soldotna Stars hockey team showed who was boss on Friday afternoon at the Soldotna Sports Center by defeating the visiting Chugiak Mustangs 5-1 in non-conference play.

Dalton Pearson racked up two goals and one assist to lead the Stars, and teammate Jarrett Urban added a goal and two assists. Urban and Pearson were helping each other all game long, providing the assists for each other’s goals. Jonas Perletti and Coel Nelson notched the other two goals.

By the time Chugiak managed to get on the board with a goal from Taylor Garner with 3:55 remaining in the second period, SoHi had already built a 3-0 lead and had the game in hand.

Although the score might have looked pretty dominant for SoHi, the game was rather even, as Chugiak had 23 shots on goal compared to Soldotna’s 22. Cody Harvey was once again in goal for the Stars and took the win with 22 saves on 23 shots.

Soldotna holds a 10-5-3 overall season record.
