In a game sure to bring up memories of Dimond’s 55-52 overtime victory over Soldotna in the Class 4A championship in 2009, the Lynx won the fourth-place game at the Alaska Prep Shootout at Dimond on Saturday, defeating the Stars 55-43 in double overtime.

The game was tied at 35 at the end of regulation. Both teams scored just two points in the first overtime. Dimond finally took control of the game by rolling to an 18-6 advantage in the second overtime.

Damon Cikanek had 19 points to lead Dimond, while Payton Lauwers and Stanson Afoa each had 13 points.

Soldotna was led by the 11 points of Noah Fowler.

Seward girls 37, Homer 33, OT

The Seahawks outscored the Mariners 9-5 in the extra session to earn a Southcentral Conference victory over the visiting Mariners on Saturday.

Tessa Adelmann had 14 points to lead the Seahawks, while Haley Oliver had 12 points for Homer.

Seward boys 49, Homer 35

The host Seahawks picked up a Southcentral Conference victory over Homer on Saturday.

Seward led 34-28 after three quarters, but turned it on in the fourth for the win.

Jeff Buchanan had 16 points to lead the Seahawks, while Michael Moore had 14 points.

For Homer, Quinn Daugharty pumped in 16 points.

Kenai boys 46, Nome 38

A day after being blown out by the Nanooks, the Kardinal boys notched a victory against host Nome-Beltz on Saturday, bringing their overall season record to 6-8.

Cordova boys 51, Skyview 30

The Skyview boys dropped their game against the Wolverines in Cordova on Saturday.

Cordova girls 36, Skyview 29

Like the boys game, the Lady Panthers took a loss against the host Wolverines on Saturday.

Point Hope Rex Rock Tipoff Tournament

Point Hope girls 47, Nikolaevsk 35

The Warriors battled against the host school in the championship game on Saturday, but ultimatly fell short of the victory.

Sophia Kalugin paced Nikolaevsk with 12 points, and teammate Nianiella Dorvall chipped in 10 points as well.

Nikolaevsk was outscored 13-5 in the first quarter, but charged back and trailed 19-17 at halftime.

Trailing by four points going into the fourth, Point Hope put the game out of reach by outscoring the Warriors 16-8.

Yakutat boys 87, Nikolaevsk 39

The Eagles put up big numbers against the Warriors on Saturday, particularly in the first period, when they had 36 points against Nikolaevsk.

Eric Mametieff again led Nikolaevsk with 14 points.

Not only did Yakutat score 36 in the first quarter, but they held Nikolaevsk to only seven points in each of the second and third quarters.
