Mucha takes 7th at Besh Cup at Tsalteshi

Soldotna High School graduate Bree Mucha finished seventh in the Junior 1 and older women’s 7.5-kilometer classic mass start Sunday at Tsalteshi Trails.

 

Mucha finished at 27 minutes, 50 seconds, while Marion Woods won at 26:04.

Also from the Kenai Peninsula in that race, Homer’s masters skier Megan Spurkland finished 21st in 30:23 and Skyview’s Mika Morton finished 25th at 31:21.

In the Junior 1 and older 15-kilometer men’s mass start, Dylan Watts won at 43:42. For the Peninsula, Homer’s Jan Spurkland was 28th in 48:10, Skyview graduate Noah King was 31st in 48:27, Soldotna’s Dillon Jensen was 32nd in 48:33, Soldotna’s Lucas Michael was 33rd in 48:48, Homer’s Lars Spurkland was 41st in 50:41, Homer’s Andre Lovett was 42nd in 50:46, Homer’s Brian Rowe was 49th in 53:59, Kenai Central’s Jordan Theisen was 50th in 54:05, Cooper Landing’s Karl Romig was 56th in 57:02 and Kasilof’s Kyle Austin was 57th in 57:47.

The boys Junior 2 and 3 skiers did a three-kilometer class mass start. Max Donaldson won at 10:57, while Soldotna skier Levi Michael was 17th in 12:06, Soldotna Middle School skier John-Mark Pothast was 44th in 14:20, area skier Jeremy Kupferschmid was 45th in 14:30 and Soldotna’s David Michael was 46th in 14:31.

The girls Junior 2 and 3 skiers also did a three-kilometer mass start. Lydia Blanchet won at 12:26. Soldotna’s Sadie Fox led area skiers by finishing fourth at 13:13, while Soldotna’s Hannah Pothast was sixth in 14:13, Homer’s Barae Hirsch was 13th in 14:37, area skier Addison Gibson was 29th in 17:14, Riana Boonstra of Aurora Borealis was 31st in 18:30, and Kellie Arthur of Soldotna Middle School was 34th in 20:55.
