Nikiski girls 63, Nikolaevsk 34

The visiting Bulldogs picked up a nonconference victory on Tuesday in Nikolaevsk.

Nikolaevsk girls coach Bea Klaich said the press of the Bulldogs hurt her team in the first half. Nikiski led 27-9 after one quarter and 41-13 at halftime.

Klaich said the Bulldogs did not press in the second half and the game was much more even. The coach said she was proud of her team for going to school, then playing Tuesday, because the team had gotten back late Monday from a tournament in Point Hope. Weather had kept the Warriors in Point Hope.

Emily Lynch had 18 points for Nikiski, including 10 in the first quarter. Alyssa Darch added 11 points for Nikiski.

For Nikolaevsk, Nianiella Dorvall led the way with 14 points.
