Thursday prep hoops roundup

The Nikolaevsk girls opened up play in the ConocoPhillips/Warrior Rumble on Thursday in Nikolaevsk with a 38-20 victory over Wasilla Lake Christian.

The victory also counted in the Peninsula Conference standings.

The Warriors won the first quarter 14-0 and cruised from there. Nianiella Dorvall had 10 points to lead the Warriors, while Darla Soulak had 16 points for Wasilla Lake.

Nikolaevsk boys 56, Wasilla Lake 44

The Warriors came back to earn a victory in the ConocoPhillips/Warrior Rumble. The win also counts in the Peninsula Conference.

Nikolaevsk trailed 13-6 after the first quarter, and 22-21 at halftime. The Warriors took a 36-33 lead at the end of three, and outscored Wasilla Lake 20-11 in the final quarter.

Eric Mametieff had 25 points to lead Nikolaevsk, while Blake Klaich chipped in 12.

For Wasilla Lake, Braden Thorn had 18 points and Conner Knowles added 16.

Lumen Christi girls 42, Ninilchik 11

The Archangels smothered the Wolverines at the Warrior Rumble tournament in Nikolaevsk on Thursday.

Lumen Christi held Ninilchik to no more than four points in any of the quarters, while scoring 15 points for themselves in the first quarter, led by Maddie Tragnani with 13 points.

Melissa Ehlers paced Ninilchik with six points and teammate Jordan Finney added five.

Lumen Christi 50, Ninilchik 31

The Archangels swept the Wolverines Thursday at the Warrior Rumble, paced in the boys game by Michael Sholl with 19 points.

Once again, Jack Wheeler came up big for Ninilchik, dishing out 17 points, including all 10 of his team’s points in the second quarter.

Chugiak girls 37, Homer 21

The host Mustangs notched a nonconference victory Thursday.

Haley Oliver led Homer with 10 points.

Chugiak boys 72, Homer 48

The host Mustangs cruised past the Mariners on Thursday.

Cook Inlet Academy girls 29, Cordova 27

The Eagles scored a win over the Wolverines at the Cordova Tipoff Tournament late Thursday night.

Bethel Classic

The Nome boys topped Seward 71-44 at the tournament. There was no score for the girls game as the Clarion went to press.
