The Kenai Central boys basketball team withstood a late charge from Kodiak to take a 52-38 win at home on Friday night in Northern Lights Conference play.

Wyatt Fitt paced the Kards with 22 points.

Kenai held control from the start, building a 17-9 score by the half. Kenai pushed its lead to 11 by the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, 43 total points were scored between the two teams — 23 from Kenai, although 15 was from free throws.

Kenai improves to 7-9 on the season.

Kodiak girls 43, Kenai 35

Kodiak jumped out to a 19-4 lead and never trailed. Kenai grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and outscored Kodiak in the second half 14-12, paced by Sydney Taylor with 13 points and Carly Norvelle with 10. Hannah Wandersee had 14 points to top Kodiak and Carissa Cannon added 11.

Kodiak improves to 3-0 in the Northern Lights Conference, 12-0 overall, while Kenai is 3-10 overall.

Cook Inlet girls 37, Tok 11

The Eagles improved to 2-0 at the Cordova Tipoff Tournament on Friday by crusing past the Wolverines.

Nicole Moffis had 14 points to lead the Eagles, while Megan Bauder added 12 points.

Nikolaevsk girls 42, Ninilchik 19

The Warriors blew out what was a close game in the second half en route to the win against the Wolverines.

Serafima Kalugin and Nianiella Dorvall each had 12 points to lead Nikolaevsk, while Jordan Finney led Ninilchik with nine points. The game counted in the Peninsula Conference standings.

A 14-9 game at halftime, the Warriors outscored Ninilchik 15-6 in the third quarter and 13-4 in the fourth, eight of those 13 points coming from Dorvall.

Nikolaevsk boys 44, Ninilchik 33

The Warriors held steady and took a wire-to-wire victory against the Wolverines on Friday night at home in tourney and Peninsula Conference play.

Anthony Yakunin paced Nikolaevsk with 16 points and teammate Blake Klaich had 11, while Ninilchik was led by Jack Wheeler with 13 points.

In other tourney action Friday, the Lumen Christi girls topped Wasilla Lake Christian 45-23 and the Lumen Christi boys did slightly better against Wasilla Lake — a 48-23 victory.
