Peninsula Conference teams had a perfect day Thursday at the opening day of play at the Nenana Invitational Tournament.

 

The Ninilchik girls, Nikolaevsk girls, Ninilchik boys and Nikolaevsk boys all notches victories and moved into the tournament semifinals.

The Ninilchik girls defeated Tri-Valley 43-31. Melissa Ehlers had 24 points for the Wolverines, while Melissa Clark had 14 points, Jordan Finney had 10 points and Alanna Goins added four points.

The Wolverines move on to play tournament host Nenana today at 6:30 p.m. Nenana posted a 54-32 victory over Fort Yukon.

The Ninilchik boys started the tournament with a 43-31 victory over Susitna Valley. Jack Wheeler had 16 points for the Wolverines, while Ryan Bear added 10.

The Wolverines move on to face Minto in the semifinals today at 5 p.m. Minto topped Fort Yukon 69-65.

Also Thursday, the Nikolaevsk boys notched a 62-27 victory over Tri-Valley. Nikolaevsk trailed 13-7 after one period, but dominated after that.

Blake Klaich poured in 24 points for Nikolaevsk, while Eric Mametieff had 21.

Nikolaevsk plays Huslia today at 8 p.m. Huslia got past Nenana, 67-43.

The Nikolaevsk girls also won, although they did get off to a dominant start. Nianiella Dorvall had 14 of her 28 points in the first quarter at Nikolaevsk jumped to a 22-5 lead. Serafima Kalugin added 10 points for the Warriors.

Next up for Nikolaevsk is Susitna Valley at 3:30 p.m. today. The Rams topped Huslia 54-48.
