SoHi's Jensen, Fox take borough ski titles

Kenai Central boys, Homer girls wear team crowns

Dillon Jensen and Sadie Fox of Soldotna won titles at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Ski Meet on Saturday at Lookout Mountain in Homer, while the Kenai Central boys and Homer girls nabbed team titles.


Jensen won the 10-kilometer skate race with a time of 30 minutes, 58 seconds, while Travis Cooper of Kenai was second at 31:09. The Kards also received top-10 finishes from Jordan Theisen in fourth, Joe Bressler in sixth and James Butler in seventh in taking the team title.

Soldotna was second in the boys team race, with Colton Diehl finishing fifth and Luke Michael taking 10th to help the effort. Homer received top-10 finishes from Brian Rowe in third, Jake Worsfold in eighth and Ghen Sasakura in ninth. Skyview’s top finisher was Brenner Musgrave, who was 18th.

The girls skated 7.5 kilometers, and Fox covered that ground in 25 minutes, 49 seconds, to take the win. The Mariners took the next three slots to get a leg up on the team title, with Barae Hirsch finishing second in 26:30, Cassidy Soistman taking third in 28:01 and Aspen Daigle finishing fourth in 28:02. Tisha Lovett also finished eighth for Homer.

SoHi’s Hannah Pothast also finished in the top 10, taking sixth, to help the Stars to their runner-up finish. Kenai was led by Kirsten Nyquist in fifth and Lindsay Floyd in seventh. Lindsey Kromrey led Seward by finishing ninth, while Mika Morton paced Skyview by finishing 10th.
