VanMeter, McKenna move into 1st

Kasilof’s Dusty VanMeter and Marc McKenna of Anchorage, the defending champions, moved into first place as the Iron Dog reached the halfway point in Nome on Tuesday.

Eric Quam and Brian Dick reached Nome 23 seconds before McKenna and VanMeter, but they were listed second by the Iron Dog because they have spent 37 more seconds on the course. The first and second place teams reached Nome at 4:22 p.m.

Soldotna’s Scott Davis and Wasilla’s Todd Palin were in fourth place. They reached Nome at 4:54 p.m.

A restart will be held at 8 a.m. in Nome on Thrusday, then racers will finish Saturday in Fairbanks.
