Warriors dominate Kenai JV

The Nikolaevsk girls basketball team earned a convincing 56-29 win over the Kenai Central junior varsity squad Wednesday at Kenai in non-conference play.

Nikolaevsk’s Sophia Kalugin had a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Teammates Kilina Klaich and Nianiella Dorvall added 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Holding a 21-14 halftime lead, the Kards stood little chance of making a comeback when the Warriors stormed to a 22-point third quarter performance. Overall, Nikolaevsk shot 24-for-62 from the field.

Earlier in the day, Nikolaevsk’s JV girls beat Kenai’s “C” squad 32-26.

The Warriors will prepare for a Thursday showdown against Cook Inlet Academy at 4 p.m. in Nikolaevsk. Also, The Nikolaevsk boys will play the CIA boys at 5:30 p.m.
