Van Meter, McKenna win 2013 Iron Dog

Kasilof's Dusty Van Meter, 43, and race partner Marc McKenna, 38, from Anchorage have won the 2013 running of the Iron Dog snowmachine race that runs from Big Lake to Nome to Fairbanks. 

For Van Meter, it was his fifth win in the 2,000-mile event. The duo crossed the line and took the win at about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, and will split the $50,000 prize that goes along with the win.
