The Kenai Central boys basketball team took a comfortable 51-33 road win on Tuesday against Homer in non-conference action.
Josh McKee topped the Kardinals with 13 points, while Kirk Kibling added nine, Wyatt Fitt had eight and Shane Spalding got seven.
Homer’s top scorers were Sam Reinert with 12 points and Sheldon Hutt with 11.
Homer got off to a better start than Kenai, leading by two after one quarter and 22-21 at the half. However, Kenai charged out of the gate in the third quarter, outscoring the Mariners 18-3 and 12-8 in the fourth.
Kenai girls 47, Homer 34
The Lady Kardinals took a win similar to the boys game on Tuesday night in Homer.
Leading 25-21 at halftime, Kenai outscored Homer 14-7 in the third quarter to distance themselves from the Mariners.
Sydney Taylor led Kenai with 18 points while teammate Justice English added 15. Haley Oliver paced Homer with 14 points and Tayla Cabana chipped in eight.
CIA girls 34, Skyview 16
Cook Inlet Academy finished its regular season off with a victory against Skyview on Tuesday night at home. Immediately following the game, the Eagle departed for Anchorage to compete in the Peninsula Conference tournament.
On Tuesday, Megan Bauder led CIA with 13 points and Darlene Bunts added six.
Sam Reynolds led Skyview with 10 points.
The difference in the game came in the second and third quarters, when CIA outscored Skyview 12-4 and 11-4, respectively. In the final quarter, only three points were scored between the two teams.
